10 Essentials You Must Pack for Fresh Island (And 5 Things to Leave Home)

The 10 Absolute Must-Haves

These are the non-negotiables. If you forget your toothbrush, you can buy one. If you forget these, you are in trouble.

1. A “Decoy” Smartphone

This is our number one tip. Do not take your brand new iPhone 15 into a foam party. Bring an older smartphone with a decent battery. Use it for the clubs and boat parties. If you lose it, drop it, or get pushed into a pool, your holiday is not ruined. Keep your main phone in the apartment safe.

2. Rehydration Salts (Electrolytes)

You will sweat all day and drink all night. Water alone is not enough to cure the Fresh Island hangover. Pack a box of Dioralyte or any electrolyte powder. Drink a pint of this mix before you sleep. You will wake up feeling human again.

3. A Heavy-Duty Power Bank

Your phone is your ticket, your wallet, and your camera. It cannot die at 3 AM. Bring a power bank with at least 10,000mAh capacity. It needs to be small enough to fit in a bumbag but strong enough to charge your phone twice.

4. High-Fidelity Earplugs

The sound systems at Papaya and Aquarius are world-class. That means they are loud. Tinnitus is not a cool souvenir. Buy a pair of reusable high-fidelity earplugs (like Loop or Eargasm). They lower the volume without ruining the music quality.

5. A Waterproof Phone Pouch

You are going to a boat party. There will be splashing. There might be rain. A cheap waterproof pouch that hangs around your neck costs 5 Euro but saves you 1000 Euro in phone repairs. Plus, it is harder for pickpockets to snatch.

6. A Secure Bumbag (Fanny Pack)

Pockets are dangerous in a crowd. Things fall out when you jump. Wear a bumbag across your chest. It keeps your money, phone, and keys right under your nose where you can see them.

7. “Beater” Sneakers

Zrce Beach is not sand. It is pebbles and rocks. Do not bring your pristine white Air Jordans. They will be destroyed by dust, spilled drinks, and rocks. Bring a pair of comfortable sneakers that you do not mind getting dirty. Vans or Converse are great.

8. Physical Cash (Small Notes)

Most places take cards, but not all. The shuttle bus often requires cash. The deposit for your apartment is cash. Small fast-food stands prefer cash. Keep about 50 Euro in small bills (5s and 10s) on you at all times.

9. A Hat or Bandana

The party starts at 4 PM. The sun is still high. Heatstroke is the quickest way to end your festival experience. Wear a bucket hat or a cap. It looks cool and keeps you conscious.

10. A Photocopy of Your Passport

Do not take your real passport to the club. If you lose it, you are stuck in Croatia. Take a clear color photocopy or a photo on your phone. Security usually accepts this or a driving license for age verification.

5 Things To Leave At Home

These items are useless on the Island of Pag. Save the luggage space.

• High Heels or Wedges: We cannot stress this enough. The ground is uneven stone. You will twist an ankle. Everyone wears flats.
• Expensive Jewelry: Gold chains and diamond earrings tend to vanish in the sea. Leave the bling at home.
• Heavy Denim Jeans: It stays 25 degrees at night. Denim is heavy and sweaty. You will be miserable. Pack linen or cotton instead.
• Drones: Unless you have a media pass, security will confiscate your drone at the gate. Do not risk it.
• Massive Beach Towels: They take up half your suitcase. Buy a cheap towel at the supermarket in Novalja for 10 Euro and leave it there when you fly home.
